We offer Mechanical seal in the place of stuffing boxes offered by competitors.Mechanical seal does not require frequent tightening unlike stuffing box.Stuffing box of pressure screens offered by competition is not easily accessible for maintenance.Lots of
dismantling and reassembly is involved each time – resetting of stuffing box is carried out.

Our pressure screens are deisnged to operate continuously , unattended with out any fear of clogging the holes/ spots.Pulp entering the screen casing passes through Bull screens pushing all junk into JUNJ OUTLET.Tangential entry produce necessary Vortex to separate the heavier items through junk outlet and Lighter Contaminants through central pre – cleaning in our pressure screens to reduce the chances of clogging.

In the unlikely event of building up of differential pressure between inlet and accept due to partial cloggig of the screen holes / slots the pilot valve senses this pressure increase and activates a cleaning
cycle. It closes “ Stock “ and “ accept” valves and flushes the basket for a short time cleaning entire basket in a matter of seconds with out any manual intervention.Once the differential pressure is brought back to the orginal set value ‘ stock / Accept’ Valves are opened and normal screening is resumed.

Bearings & Lubrication : Heavy duty roller bearings are provided and we had got our design , wetted by a leading bearing manufacturer.Unlike in competing models , there is no “ Cantilever’ in our desing , bearings can be lubricated from outside as lubricating pipe are brought to a convenient points.Weekly / biweekly lubrication can be done with out stopping themachine, too in a matter of seconds. |
Monitoring operting parameters : optijmum operating paramenters will be set during , commissioning , Diaphragm / pressure gauges are provided at the Inlet , Accept andDilution points to monitor the operating parameters. |
All wetted components are made of stainless stell and all drive parts are of Ni-Cr alloy steel case hardened and ground to close tolerance. |
CENTRIPETAL SCREENS |
We also offer centripetal screens where the pulp flow is from outside to inside. It means that all heavy debris are thrown to the inner walls of casing by the centrifugal action. Only cleaner pulp is forced against the slots or holes of basket this reduces the chances of clogging to a great extent and totally eliminates debris hit damage of basket. (This features is optional) In competing models dirty pulp is forced against the screen wall causing frequent damage to the sensitive fragile walls of screen drum. In such models clogging is very frequent, centripetal flow ensures long life for baskets. |

Milled slots of size 0.2 mm/0.25 & above in SS sheet (Thickness 5mm) is also available. Slotted baskets have contoured inlet & Outlet slots to produce Micro turbulence as per TAPPI (USA) recommendations. All Baskets are Electro Polished to extreme smoothness to ensure fine screening (we have a special purpose slot milling machine and 2000 Amp Electro polishing Plant exclusively for basket manufacture) |
All rotating parts are dynamically balanced for smooth running and to ensure long life for bearings. |
Pulleys on the drive shaft is of split design to facilitate maintenance after several years. |
V- Belts can be easily be set and locked from outside. |
Lifting hooks are standard for easy handling. |
Detailed operating & maintenance manual will be supplied with the equipment to enable replacement of mechanical seals, bearing and V- Belts after several years. (Service of our trained engineers can be had at nominal costs after guarantee period) |

| MECHANICAL EXECUTION OF U MAC PRESSURE SCREEN |
TAPPI'S RECOMMENDATIONS ON PRESSURE SCREENS |
By and large U-Mac pressure screens arc manufactured in stainless steel machine cover, inlet casing and intermediate casing are of stainless steel No.304 and screen Basket is in stainless steel No. 316 Basket is Electrolically deburred and polished. Machine base and bearing housing are of high grade cast iron on (grade 25). Foundation plate is of mild steel welded construction. Swing out device for cover is of mild steel. Rotor hub and rotor foils are of SS 304. All bolts coming in contact with water pulp are of stainless steel.
Motor mounting is made as per machine tool specification scrapping and colour seating to DIN standards to maintain parallelity of pulleys for all position of belt tensioning range. This is ensure equal tension in all belts. Rotor can easily be removed as Germans SPIETH CLAMPS are provided for easy fixing and loosening of rotor - Seizing eleminated for ever. Rotor and basket can be removed and refixed in a matter
of minutes. Attention is invited to the sectional view enclosed. Special BUSAK - Seals and "Throw-rings" are added to prevent water reaching bearings, even if screen is inadvertently run with damaged seals. Special drains are provided to drain such leakages through transparent braided hoses. Provision is made to lubricate both bearings from outside. Recirculating water line cools and cleans the mechanical seals to ensure long trouble - free operation of seals. Large/robust SKF/FAG bearings on the drive shafts are designed to give trouble free operation for over 10 years of bearings life. Shaft deflections and slopes at bearings are calculated and controlled as per SKF recommendations. Large shaft diameter between bearings reduce slopes substantially cantilever extension are reduced to a minimum. Belt tension can be checked from outside adjusted and locked maintaining precise alignment, even by a semiskilled machanic. Special provision is made to exhaust LIGHTS while screening recycled fibres. Special pressure gauges at INLET and OUTLET are provided to eliminate CLOGGING FOR EVER. Retrofitable simple circuit is available to automate cleaning - cycle without operator - intervention. Lot of care is taken while designing and execution of U Mac Pressure screens with a view to provide long trouble -free unattended operation atyour end. |
| |
- Use passing velocities as per enclosed diagram and use lower value for recycle fibres.
| |
- Use inlet bars and pulsating rotors to reduce clogging and matting.
| |
- Do not use pulsation higher then 400 MPa near head boxes.
| |
- Inlet velocity should be maintained near 2m/s and rotor velocity 1 8 to 25 m/s to achieve good screening efficiency
| |
- Rough estimate of expected life of milled plates = 3to5 years and that of wedge wires = I to 1 .5 years
| |
- Welded wedge wires not recommended near head boxes
- Welded wedge wires not recommended a bore 1 8 m/s rotor velocity
| |
- Pitch of slots / holes should be such that stringing is eliminated.
| |
- Special dilution lines are required to evacuated 'LIGHTS' while screening recycled fibres.
| |
- Dia 2 mm hole will screen 0. 166 mm if passing velocity of 1.5 m/s and rotor velocity of 20 m/s of relative velocity = 4.7 _)
| |
- Power consumption will be in the order of 8 to 15 kwhr / tonne.
All screens used near Head box must be electropolished. |
